Most people would agree that their vision is their most valuable sense. No one understands this more than Dr. Christopher J. Orenic, owner of Advanced Eyecare Center of El Segundo.

Running a shared practice for 14 years in the South Bay, Orenic has already gained a positive reputation for being one of the best optometrists in the beach cities. However, he didn't realize how well he was supported until he opened up his own practice last month.

“He has been busy every day. Today he has 14 patients. This is more than we ever imagined, it's just amazing the number who have followed,” said his wife, Mary Clair Orenic. “But I truly believe it's because of the care he gives to his patients.”

However, quality care isn't the only reason people are making appointments at the new eye center. The center also offers a state-of-the-art-technology called iZon lenses.

The wavefront-guided lenses are customized to correct the patient's vision. Instead of a one-size-fits-all concept, which is how it is usually done, the technology fits contacts or glasses to solve the patient's specific needs. “It's amazing the difference it makes, especially for night vision. Everything is much more clear,” Mary Clair said.

Orenic, who opened his practice because he had a philosophy and vision of how he wanted his practice conducted, said it is important to him that he takes the necessary time with each patient.

“There are many things that can be going on with a person's vision that they might not be aware of and there is a lot of risk factors that you can only detect by taking the time to do a complete examination,” he said. “I want to find the best way to meet the patient's needs and wants so that they can see the world better. I want to take care of all of their visual needs.”

Orenic added that above all, what he truly enjoys most is problem-solving. “I love helping my patients figure out what the problem is and how we can solve it. It's a very rewarding feeling.”

Although Orenic is well-educated, graduating cum laude in his undergrad and graduating with distinction from Southern California College of Optometry, it is his enthusiasm, expertise and knowledge of advanced technology that encourages people to visit his practice.

“I really love what I do and I really enjoy my patients,” Orenic said. “I feel very fortunate to be able to have my practice in this area and be able to offer a high level of care with such advanced technology.”

“At Advanced Eyecare Center the patient comes first,” Mary Clair said. “Anything we can do to make their life easier, we do it. We really want to enhance the patient experience.”

Advanced Eyecare Center is located at 2101 Rosecrans Ave. (on the first floor courtyard) in El Segundo. For more information, call (310) 321-6990 or visit www.advancedeyecarecenter.net.
